March 13 – Long Hiatus

HI All,

It has been a while since I last wrote.  Sorry.  However, I went to CO to ski with some old buds and visit some others who won’t be here much longer.  Sad to say, I’m at that age.

The real estate market around here has also taken a sabbatical.  Things have really slowed again.  I am just now getting folks to come to look.  I have two this weekend but they are just starting their search and are just looking at the area.  I have returnees coming in April and May.

A real shocker is that I did a search around the Lake Keowee communities and found NO properties went under contract so far this year!  WOW!.  I, and others, did have closings from sales in Dec, but nothing new has been added.

Retail sales are down as well as iPad sales over the last 3 months.  Stock market is acting as though it is on a binge in Las Vegas – Up 1% one day, down 2% the next.  That is not “investing”.

I’m going to forego the listing of properties this time since the liisting additions will be too long.  Will catch you up next time.

Long, Cold February

IT has been a trying but profitable month.  We have set records for low temperatures and had a sleet storm, to boot.  Good thing it was sleet not frozen rain.  The sleet was shovelable in a sort of way.   Some of us were without power for up to 12 hours twice owing to the strong winds knocking over trees.  However, Spring is on the way and in 3 weeks, all this will be a memory.

On the good side, I had 4 closings this month.  So we are seeing a resurgence in sales.   Buyers are staying indoors right now, but as soon as the temps get back to normal, I believe things will pick up  again.

Make sure you go back through the previous posts to catch up.

A perfect January day with some high thin clouds and a light breeze.  Normal 26 degree start but will warm to the mid 50’s by 4PM.  Golfers are out and there are some fishermen on the lake.

I have 2 new lot listings coming in:

One is an amenity lot in Keowee Key.  Nice to build on but also has the full fee structure and total amenity usage.  Will be priced at $25K.

Another is a FABULOUS waterfront lot with full, covered boat dock.  It is an entire point with 0.68 acres and total unobstructed views of BIG WATER.  Listed at least $100K below what they paid at $425K.  Ask me about the Windswept lot.

First Blog and Mission Statement

January 27, 2015:

OK, first on the 1/27/15 agenda is the weather in the NE.  Seems as though we ducked a bullet as did NYC but from there east will be getting hammered with up to 3′ of snow and blizzard conditions.  I spoke with some friends up there last night and they are all hunkered down.
